ABOUT ABOUT

Do you dream of making your 5-9 your 9-5? Of making your professional dream a daytime reality? Join Girls with Grit and some of Philadelphia’s powerhouse women for a real conversation on how to elevate your side hustle or pivot like a pro and work with purpose and fulfillment.

This evening benefits Girls with Grit, a women-led, Philly bred all-volunteer nonprofit whose mission is to advance the professional dreams of Philly’s girls with grit.* They support ambitious, female-identified students through the major transitions of college entry and career launch. Learn more at girlswithgritphl.org and @girlswithgritphl. *GwG uses the word “girls” to include all female-identified individuals.

90% of your ticket price helps first-generation, low-income students from Philadelphia successfully transition into college and then into their profession. Each attendee will take home a gift bag with items from our panelists and host. This event doubles as a reservation at Bok Bar from 5pm-6:15pm. Attendees can order food and drink a la carte. Masks are required at all times except when seated at your table. This event will be postponed in inclement weather.

Panelists:
Tess Hart, co-founder and CEO, Triple Bottom Brewing

Tess graduated from college with a degree in Poli Sci and then went on to grad school for a Masters in Environmental Management. How does this path end up spelling B-E-E-R and resulting in Philly’s first fair-chance, triple bottom line brewery?

Adeline Koh, Founder, Sabbatical Beauty

Adeline took a sabbatical from her tenured position as Associate Professor of Postcolonial Literature and Digital Humanities at Stockton University and used the time to create products to improve her skin. Her boutique offering small-batch, hand-crafted Korean skin care products opened in 2016 and she hasn’t been back on campus since.

Judy Ni, Founder and Managing Partner, baology and nonprofit, Hospitality Together

Judy’s career began in consulting, but the kitchen kept calling. A stint her mom arranged in a friend’s restaurant to squash her kitchen fever led to jobs with Daniel Boulud (Daniel, Db bistro moderne, and many others) and Dan Barber (Blue Hill) before Philly beckoned and a desire to create Taiwanese food culminated in the opening of baology. Mom got over it.
